Reading BID delivers successful summer hospitality campaign to support sector

Reading BID and its management company, REDA, has delivered a successful summer campaign, aimed at boosting awareness of Reading's hospitality sector over the summer months.
The 'Visit Reading this Summer' campaign ran during July-August 2024. Alongside promotion of the town centre's medieval-themed brick trail, Fantasy Trail Quest, the summer campaign content was designed to showcase Reading as a vibrant and exciting destination for summer activities.
As part of the campaign, Reading BID funded a new photo gallery featuring 50 of Reading's town centre hospitality businesses, as well as the development and production of a suite of new videos to support the campaign, bringing to life Reading's diverse evening and night-time economy, and attracting people to the town.

The campaign delivered nearly 300 social media posts and achieved an organic reach of 45,000 accounts across the 8-week period. Average post engagement was 4%, well above the industry aeverage of 1.2%*. The Visit-Reading.com website saw over 12% more website users, 17% more page views and 206% more traffic from social media, when compared with the same period in 2023. Key leisure and evening economy pages received significantly more visitors during the campaign, with 'attractions' seeing a 48% uplift, 'things to do' welcoming 56% more visits, and 'food and drink' seeing a 21% increase during the campaign period.
