Reading is the Thames Valley’s global business destination. Attracted by easy access to the UK’s global hub airport, Heathrow Airport and London as well as a highly educated talent pool, Reading has attracted a long list of global brands, from Microsoft to Sanofi, Bayer to PepsiCo.
Since 2000, nearly 50% of international companies taking space in Reading over 10,000 sq ft of office space have been US companies. They include Verizon, Carbon Back and Oracle. Reading has a strong connection with Richardson in Texas, hosting the UK HQ of many US companies based out of Richardson – Verizon, Collins Aerospace and Cisco. Reading tech recruitment firm Austin Fraser have opened offices in Austin Texas. West coast IT firm Egnyte are growing their business in Reading, including relocating specialist staff to the UK.
Reading has been twinned with German business powerhouse Dusseldorf for over 75 years and there are regular business and cultural exchanges between the two. Reading is also twinned with Clonmel in Ireland, San Franciso Libre in Nicaragua and Speightstown in Barbados.
