You are here: Reading University > Thames Valley Science Park
The University’s Thames Valley Science Park is based beside the M4 south of Reading and is home to more than 80 companies.
More than just office space, the Science Park is the gateway to additional opportunities – helping business recruit graduates, engage students for projects, explore new ideas, collaborate or gain access to specialised knowledge, equipment or facilities. The lively campus-style environment is designed for people to meet and collaborate. Interaction spaces, cafés, flexible conference and meeting spaces encourage this to happen.
Around 80 companies have already chosen to locate here. Ranging from early stage start-ups to global R&D centres, they represent a diverse range of technologies and sectors, from digital media to pioneering medical diagnostics.
The University is also progressing plans for a film, TV and digital media hub, Cine Valley, at Thames Valley Science Park, to foster a new ecosystem for creative arts and media. Shinfield Studios, the key tenant in this project, has already begun construction on a major studios and creative media complex, with production already beginning on major Hollywood film productions. When complete the studios will bring much-needed additional film production capacity to the UK, attracting global TV and film productions. This will create 1,500 new jobs, and support up to 1,500 further indirect jobs.
