Reading's licensed venues Best Bar None
21st July 2023
This week, ten of Reading’s bars and night-time venues received Best Bar None Awards, which recognises well-run pubs, bars, clubs and other businesses that serve alcohol.
Supported by the Home Office and the drinks and hospitality industries, the accreditation recognises good venue management, such as security, noise reduction and litter; staff training and care: customer safety and welfare: customer service and community.
The Right Worshipful the Mayor of Reading, Councillor Tony Page, presented Certificates of Achievement to the management and teams of ten licensed premises who met the standards of the Reading Best Bar None accreditation scheme.
The Reading Best Bar None (BBN) scheme was launched in March 2022 at the Reading Pubwatch Annual Conference. Managers and owners of licensed premises were invited to take part in this voluntary scheme whereby an auditor would attend their pub, restaurant or bar to have their operational policies, procedures and training records assessed against a robust set of criteria determined by the National BBN Board of Directors.
The premises were assessed by an independent auditor for venues located in the town centre kindly sponsored by the BID, and for those premises located outside of Reading by Officers from Licensing and the Community Alcohol Partnership.
The venues receiving awards are:-
- Angel Bar
- Sub89/Popworld
- The Last Crumb
- The Roseate Hotel
- Milk Bar
- Hope Tap
- Oakford Social Club
- The Botanist
- The Boundary
- London Cocktail Club
