Reading 2050 Vision

Welcome to Reading in 2050: an internationally recognised and economically successful city region where low carbon living is the norm and the built environment, technology and innovation have combined to create a dynamic, smart and sustainable city with a high quality of life and equal opportunities for all.
Through the Reading 2050 Vision, project partners Barton Willmore, Reading UK and the University of Reading aim to excite and engage with people from across Reading to support Reading's economic growth and evolution as a smart and sustainable city.  Be inspired and see what could be possible in Reading in the year 2050.

The development of the vision began in 2013 when, following a young property professionals event,  Barton Willmore, Reading UK and the University of Reading came together, bringing their knowledge of Reading and its potential, UK BIS Future Cities, EPSRC Retrofit 2050, the economic needs of Reading, planning and design to begin a consultation process to devise a 2050 Vision for Reading. 
Over several years, workshops, exhibitions, public events and consultations with a wide cross section of stakeholders and Reading residents shaped the development of a Vision for Reading, which the local authority endorsed and The Reading Vision document was finally published in 2017.
