Reading is a centre for global research and business development.
The University of Reading has an international reputation for the quality of its research with 98% of its research rated as being of international standing. Its research aims to solve some of the biggest problems facing people today, based on four themes: agriculture, food and health; environment; heritage and creativity; and prosperity and resilience. Working across continents and disciplines, our researchers explore ways to tackle climate change, improve human health, provide food security and understand human culture.
In 2021, the University was awarded a Queen’s Anniversary Prize for its work on climate change – the highest honour awarded to UK institutions of higher and further education. With construction of a new HQ for the European Centre for Medium-range Weather Forecasts at the University, the Whiteknights campus will become home to the largest cluster of weather and climate scientists in the world.
The Royal Berkshire HNS Trust works in partnership to develop a sound research and development culture. It is recognised for quality research which contributes to excellent patient care and improving professional development. In addition to attracting some of the best clinicians and researchers, the department has and continues to successfully attract funding of the highest level.
