Reading direct link to central London via Elizabeth Line
26th August 2022
From Sunday 6 November, Reading will connect with the central tunnels of the Elizabeth Line - opening up new direct journeys from Reading through the capital. This means that people travelling to and from Reading will be able to travel directly to/from the West End, the City of London and Docklands without changing at Paddington. Reading is also connected to Heathrow Airport by the Elizabeth Line (changing at Hayes & Harlington)
The integration of Elizabeth line services will bring a huge range of extra benefits, including reduced journey times, additional capacity, greater accessibility, and better connectivity to jobs, opportunities, and leisure.
Approximate journey times from Reading:-
- Bond Street – 53 minutes
- Tottenham Court Road – 55 minutes
- Farringdon – 57 minutes
- Liverpool Street – 60 minutes
- Canary Wharf – 67 minutes
- Heathrow Airport to Reading – 44 minutes
Customers will be able to use the Elizabeth line seven days a week as Sunday services through central London will also get underway for the first time from Sunday 6 November. The frequency of services in the central section between Paddington and Whitechapel will increase from 12 trains per hour to up to 22 trains per hour in peak times and 16 trains per hour during off-peak.
