Reading Central BID has been in existence since 2006. In this time it has been successfully renewed by vote on four occasions and in the last five years, provided approximately £2.5 million extra private investment in the town centre funded by a nominal levy, equivalent to 1% of rateable value paid by local businesses. Its fifth term will start on 1 April 2024 following a successful ballot in February 2024, when of those who voted, 88% voted in favour by number and 93% in favour by rateable value (RV).

Reading Central BID funds services and activities to improve the environment of the town's central district, alongside the Abbey Quarter BID. REDA's BID team works with many partners including Reading Borough Council and the Reading Central BID Committee (made up of 23 town centre businesses and partners) to deliver the BID business plan.
