Pilotless drones superhighways invented in Reading

The world’s largest and longest network of drone superhighways has been given the go-ahead by the UK Government, based on technology created in Reading by Altitude Angel. The first superhighway will connect airspace above Reading, Oxford, Milton Keynes, Cambridge, Coventry, and Rugby over the next two years, allowing the time sensitive transportation of medical items and organs, police and fire service applications as well as high value low volume goods.
REDA is supporting Reading Borough Council as partners in this innovative £15m project. Nigel Horton-Baker, Executive Director of REDA, said: “This yet again demonstrates Reading’s strong digital tech led economy, its contribution to UK plc and the delivery of its smart and sustainable Reading 2050 Vision."
