Street Cleaning

What is it? 
Bi-annually (late Spring and early Autumn), overnight, our deep cleaning contractor steam cleans, and jet washes the pedestrianised areas of the whole town centre.  This method of cleaning lifts the grime naturally accumulated over time, as well as gum from the pavements.

Everyone who uses our pavements (but not the pigeons!)

What is the benefit? 
While the Council’s Streetcare team do a fantastic job of sweeping the streets the brushes are not able to penetrate the paving enough to lift the dirt and grime that accumulates from foot and vehicle traffic, gum and bird droppings.  By jet washing and steam cleaning the pedestrianised areas it lifts the dirt completely and leaves a gleaming surface.
