What is it?
Reedbeds installed along the Kennet canal through The Oracle shopping centre, and both sides of the canal outside Queens Road Carpark. This was a joint venture with The Oracle, the Environment Agency, the Kennet & Avon Canal Trust, and the Abbey Quarter BID.
Who is it for?
The wildlife using our waterways (and for everyone to admire!).
What is the benefit?
The reed beds will help to green Reading's waterways. Once fully grown, the foliage attracts birds, bees and butterflies. But that’s not all - under the water the roots from the plants form water filtration systems as well as homes for fish and insects.
