This historic building was said to have been opened in 1843 by the British literacy icon, Charles Dickens. Conveniently situated in the centre of Reading, Hotel 1843 is directly opposite The Oracle shopping centre, and is a 10-minute walk from Reading Railway Station, providing 25-minute connections to central London. 

All 29 rooms feature a television, a desk, tea & coffee making facilities, and a private bathroom with complimentary toiletries. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the property. 

Calico Bar & Eatery offers a modern and vibrant space for all day dining, including freshly prepared breakfast. Guests can relax in numerous spaces within the Eatery, including comfortable remote working seating, a grand Victorian Library, and floral circular booths. The Eatery serves a mixture of homemade global foods, including modern Asian dishes, which can be sampled with bespoke cocktails from the extensive drinks menu.
