Bring your loved ones together for a magical winter lantern procession.
The Reading Lantern Parade returns on Saturday 7 December. Join the parade and walk together in candlelight to Town Hall Square for a magical musical finale. A heart-warming celebration of the festive season filled with lights, music and community spirit.
You and your family can join in the fun by making your own lanterns at workshops. Bring your creations to the parade and be part of the glowing procession! This is Reading's second Lantern Parade, following last year's success with nearly 1500 participants. Come, bring your friends and family, and let's light up the night together at this magical event!

Hundreds of people from across Reading will be taking part in lantern making workshops throughout November attending together with their beautiful candlelit lanterns. We've listed the workshops below:
What's the parade route?
If you have made a lantern at one of the lantern making workshops please come to the back of the Broad Street Mall (Opposite Blue Collar Food) at 4.15pm to check and light your candle. Attendees without lantern please join us at 5pm on Broad Street (Oxford Road end).
The parade travels along St Mary’s Butts to Broad Street at 5pm heading to Town Hall Square for a musical finale. The parade will be lead by a bateria of drummers and large sculptural lanterns finishing in Town Hall Square and will move at a slow walking pace is suitable for all ages.
Reading Lantern Parade is brought to you by Reading’s Business Improvement Districts representing business in the town centre through REDA, Beautiful Creatures Theatre & Jelly. The event is supported by Reading Borough Council & The Broad Street Mall.
