The University of Reading has two campuses in Reading, the main Whiteknights campus and the London Road campus. Both are within walking and cycling distance from local train stations. They are both served by excellent local bus services. Visitors are strongly recommended to use public transport.
Whiteknights campus
Walking: the Whiteknights campus is approximately two miles and around 40 minutes on foot from Reading Station. Please allow a further 10 minutes to reach a specific building or site once on campus.
By bus: the 21 and 21a buses run from Reading train station in the town centre to the Whiteknights campus at regular intervals, 24 hours a day. A single bus ticket is £2.
By taxi: taxis can be found in the town centre and most easily at the railway station. A taxi will cost approximately £8.
By car: the University has partnered with the Royal Berkshire Hospital NHS Trust and Reading Buses to offer the 300 Park and Ride service. The service picks up at Mereoak Park and Ride and sets down at Christchurch Green, a seven minute walk from the centre of Whiteknights campus. This initiative is free for students and staff of the University, and members of the public can pay to use this service. Mereoak Park and Ride, Junction 11 of the M4, RG7 1WJ
The Whiteknights and London Road campuses in Reading are approximately 1.5 miles from the M4 motorway.

Visitors to the campus on Monday to Friday between 8am and 5pm should be aware that parking needs to be prearranged and that a parking permit must be displayed. Please contact the member of staff or department you are visiting and ask them to arrange a visitor's parking permit. Permits or prearranged parking are not required outside of these times. By rail: Reading train station is a mainline train station and is easily accessible from most other places in the UK. It is 22 minutes from London Paddington Station on the fast service and also on the Elizabeth Line. From the station, you can walk, cycle, or take a bus or taxi to campus.
Earley Station on the London Waterloo line is a 20 minute walk to the University Earley Gate entrance.
London Road campus
The London Road campus is a ten-minute walk from Reading town centre. It can also be reached on the number 21 bus.
