Reading has an excellent local bus service, Reading Buses, which serves the town centre through to the entire Reading region and some of our local villages. Most recently winning Top Operator 2020, Reading Buses has been transporting people around the Reading region for over 100 years with a fleet of 161 environmentally-friendly (and very colourful) single and double-decker buses.
Many buses offer free WiFi and USB charging points so you can stay connected as you travel. Sister companies, Newbury & District and Thames Valley Buses offer services throughout Berkshire.
Throughout Reading there is now (from 1 Nov 2023) a tap on / tap off system of payment. Passengers just need to scan their preferred payment card or device when they get on a bus and then scan the same payment method when they get off. There is a maximum daily payment (£3 until 31 December)
