Reading is on a number of national walking and cycling routes and there is lots to see while you are here. The Thames Path National Trail runs alongside the river through the middle of the town; a number of sustrans routes and the new King Alfred's Way cycling route touch Reading; the English leg of the world-famous Camino de Santiago, St James Way starts in Reading.

Walking tours of Reading include many themed walks from Terry's Walkabouts while Graham Horn's Blue Badge guiding includes Reading among a nunber of south east itineraries. There are also guided tours of the Abbey Ruins. Or why not try an E bike tour of the Chilterns with a vineyard tour thrown in?

You can find maps and lots of information about walking routes in Reading on Reading Borough Council's website.This includes a download walking map.

Our Reading Walks Festival took place 11-19 May but we have lots of ideas of walks to do on your own or in the company of others on the Festival website.

And don't forget, Reading is on the multi-modal Great West Way route from London to Bristol, which you can walk, cycle, paddle, train or car!
