Join the Flipping Fun: Reading’s Pancake Race is Back!
7th February 2025
Reading’s high street is about to be taken over by pancakes, fancy dress, and a whole lot of laughter! On Shrove Tuesday, 4 March, Launchpad’s legendary Pancake Race returns for its 27th year—bringing excitement, entertainment, and a fantastic cause to the heart of the town.
This isn’t just any race—it’s a spectacle! Expect to see local businesses and community teams flipping their way to victory, all while dressed in wild and wonderful costumes. Over the years, we’ve seen everything from clowns and astronauts to giant bananas and dinosaurs battling it out for the coveted frying pan trophy. What will this year’s teams come as? You’ll have to come down and see for yourself!
Whether you’re cheering on your friends, supporting your favourite team, or simply enjoying the hilarious antics, this is an event you won’t want to miss.
Beyond the fun, there’s a powerful reason behind all the pancake-flipping madness. Every single penny raised goes towards Launchpad’s vital work in preventing homelessness in Reading. Last year alone, the charity helped over 1,800 people in need, and the demand for support continues to grow. By attending and donating, you’ll be making a real difference in your community.
So mark your calendars, bring your loudest cheers, and be part of this incredible town tradition. Let’s make it a flipping great day for a fantastic cause!
When: 11:15am on Tuesday, 4 March 2025
Where: Broad Street, Reading
Why: For the fun, the fancy dress, and to support Launchpad’s mission to prevent homelessness
Fiona Keyte, Launchpad’s fundraising manager, said “Get ready Reading – you will not want to miss this cracking event! Whether you are racing or spectating, it really is a sight to behold! Don’t miss the amazing, costumed teams race as hard as they can in our town centre. And whilst it may seem like a bit of fun, the teams that have taken part for nearly three decades have raised many thousands of pounds for Launchpad.
Want to do more? Launchpad is also looking for volunteers to help with bucket collections, team registration, and pancake flipping monitoring. If you’d like to lend a hand, email fundraising@launchpadreading.org.uk.
See you there—don’t be late, or you’ll miss the batter-fuelled action!
