Pedestrianised Broad Street and the streets running off it host lots of eateries, coffee shops and take aways as well as the twice weekly street food market in Market Place.
The Oracle Centre has restaurants in the main mall but its star attraction is the Riverside eating and drinking area, located both sides of the Kennet & Avon Canal. Broad Street Mall also hosts coffee shops, newcomers such as Taco Bell and firm favourites such as Pepe Sale.
You'll find lots of bars in Friar Street, Gun Street and surrounding streets, from the legendary Purple Turtle to new comers such as Market Kitchen. Reading town centre also has traditional pubs such as the Allied Arms for real ale lovers.
